Update:
Comet C/2009 G1 (STEREO) was first discovered by a Chinese amateur astronomer Jiangao Ruan  in STEREO-B satellite images taken on the 3rd April, 2009.
The comet does not apparently belong to any known orbital group.
The preliminary orbital elements indicate a perihelion passage on the 12th April, 2009,  at a distance of  approximately 1.1 AU from the Sun.
