China ready for second space docking

China's Shenzhou-8 unmanned spacecraft successfully disengaged from the space lab module Tiangong-1 Monday evening after a 12-day flight together.

The unit formed by the Shenzhou 8 spacecraft and the Tiangong 1 lab module adjusted its position successfully yesterday night in preparation for the second docking.

Chinese spacecraft dock in orbit

China has joined two space vehicles together in orbit for the first time.
The unmanned Shenzhou 8 craft, launched earlier this week, made contact with the Tiangong-1 space lab at 17:29 GMT. The union occurred over China itself.

A spokesman with China's manned space program said Wednesday afternoon that the unmanned spacecraft Shenzhou-8 will begin automatic navigation and control at 11:00 p.m. in order to prepare to dock with the Tiangong-1 space lab module.

Chinese Shenzhou craft launches on key space mission

China has taken the next step in its quest to become a major space power with the launch of the unmanned Shenzhou 8 vehicle.
The spacecraft rode a Long March 2F rocket into orbit where it will attempt to rendezvous and dock with the Tiangong-1 lab, launched in September.
It would be the first time China has joined two space vehicles together.

China prepares for unmanned space launch

China says it will launch a unmanned spacecraft on Tuesday that will dock with a capsule already orbiting the Earth.
A rocket carrying Shenzhou 8 will blast off early in the morning from the Gobi Desert and rendezvous with the Tiangong 1.
