And the good news: The whole process need not take more than half an hour. Afterwards, you'll be rewarded a computer that feels a lot faster.

Last modified files
To find the last modified files on your drive, open up Vista's Search panel, and press the 'F3 key' when the  Explorer Windows is opens.
Change the search location and set the Date modified to today. There is the  option to search for non-indexed, hidden, and system files also.

If there isn't a default Date modified column available, you will need  to add it by right-clicking on the column area, and choosing More and then checking the box beside 'Date'.

TotalIdeas TweakVI (free basic edition) makes up for the lack of a TweakUI for Vista.
TweakUI is a Microsoft PowerToy for Windows XP (not Vista). It allows you to change all kinds of settings for how the operating system works. See the Hit Parade below, to get an idea of the kinds of settings Im talking about. (Note: Microsoft makes this tool available without any warranty or support. Use it at your own risk.)
