Last week, NASA celebrated its 50th anniversary of existence (and spent who knows how much of our tax money) to beam a Beatles song into space. "Across the Universe" was sent via gigantic antenna across the universe to Polaris, the North Star, all thanks to the thinking of Los Angeles-based Beatles historian (and guaranteed pothead) Martin Lewis.
Is NASA that shot for new ideas, or just that desperate for publicity that they would not only consider such an idea, but actually carry it out?

NASA will send the Beatles song Across the Universe across the universe on Monday, the agency said. At precisely 7 p.m., E.S.T. the song will be beamed by the agencys Deep Space Network of antennas at the North Star, Polaris, which is 431 light years away.
