Three wind turbines towering above New Zealand's Antarctic home have begun generating electricity.
They will generate enough energy to completely power NZ's Antarctic programme, as well as providing some electricity to America's McMurdo station.
The turbines have been specially designed to withstand Antarctica's unique weather while generating electricity for Scott Base and the US-run McMurdo Station.
