The launch readiness review (RAL) took place in Kourou on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 and authorised count-down operations for the INTELSAT 11 & OPTUS D2 launch. For its fourth launch of the year Arianespace will boost two communications satellites into orbit: Intelsat 11 for the international operator Intelsat, and Optus D2 for the Australian operator Optus. Both satellites were built by Orbital Sciences Corporation. They will be launched from the Ariane launch complex N° 3 (ELA3), in Kourou, French Guiana.
An Arianespace Ariane 5 GS rocket is to launch the Intelsat 11 and Optus D2 communications satellites, from ELA-3, Kourou, French Guiana. Intelsat 11 will provide direct-to-home broadcasting and data networking services to Latin America. The Optus D2 satellite is to provide television and communications services to Australia. Liftoff of the Ariane 5 GS launcher is set for Friday evening, October 5, as early as possible during the following launch window:
