A bright magnitude 15.3 type 1a supernova, 2007fs, was discovered  on the 15th July 2007 by the Lick Observatory Supernova Search  in  the spiral  galaxy ESO 601-G5.
The supernova is located 2".5 west and 12".4 north of the centre of the galaxy.
z = 0.017192

Position(2000):  R.A. = 22h01m40s.44, Dec. = -21°30'29".6
