Earthquakes shake south-west China's Yunnan

A series of earthquakes have hit south-west China, leaving at least seven people dead and 20 injured, state-run media report.
The quakes struck the border of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, with the largest felt at 03:19 UT (11:19 Beijing time).

The 2008 Sichuan earthquake or the Great Sichuan Earthquake was a deadly earthquake that measured at 8.0 Ms and 7.9 Mw occurred at 14:28:01.42 CST (02:28:01.42 EDT) on May 12, 2008 in Sichuan province of China and killed at least 68,000 people.

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake occurred at 04:58:17 (UTC) on Thursday, March 10, 2011, in the Myanmar-China border region, about 95 km SE of Myitkyina, at a depth of 10 km.

Location    24.710°N, 97.994°E

The website of the Chinese government earthquake monitoring station said the magnitude-5.8 quake was centred in Yingjiang and struck just before 1 p.m. (0500 GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometres. The U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake at a magnitude of 5.4 and at a deeper 35 kilometres.

Two years after the massive earthquake that devastated China's Sichuan province, families of the thousands of missing people can on Wednesday finally register their loved ones as dead.
Under Chinese law, relatives of the 18,000 missing people can only register their family members as dead two years after they disappeared.
Nearly 70,000 people were killed in the May 2008 quake that devastated parts of the southwestern province and rattled a nation preparing to host the Beijing Olympics.
