EarthDesk replaces your Macintosh desktop picture or Windows wallpaper with a  dynamic image of our planet continuously updating in the background while you work.

Version 4.5 for Windows is supposed to be up to 300% faster.
With an internet connection, EarthDesk displays real-time global cloud cover, allowing users to track hurricanes and typhoons, or simply admire our beautiful planet. User options allow you to adjust the overall transparency of the cloud layer.
Unique to EarthDesk is accurate rendering of moonlight on the Living Earth satellite map. To create this effect, the phase of the moon and reflectiveness of the Earth's surface are used to determine correct colouring of the image, ensuring a realistic view of the Earth from space.

The unlicensed Windows 2000 / XP / Vista version limits the Favourites list to 5 entries and maps display an evaluation watermark.

Ed ~ Cool, but after evaluation, i`d rather donate the registration fee to a charity and use free software like Google Earth or NASA Worldwind which can do  so much more.

Xeric Design, Ltd. has announced the immediate availability of EarthDesk 4.1, its real-time dynamic desktop map, for MS Windows.
EarthDesk replaces your static wallpaper with a photo-realistic image of the Earth showing current sun, moon and city illumination as well as real-time global cloud coverage ( hurricanes, storms, and worldwide weather systems ) on your Windows desktop.
The software operates silently in the background, keeping your desktop updated while you work. Unlike a screen saver, which only appears when your system is idle, EarthDesk's dynamic desktop is continuously displayed as Windows wallpaper.
