The Russian Progress M-60 cargo spacecraft was successfully deorbited into the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday night.
According to a  mission control spokesman  the cargo ship left orbit at 7:47 p.m. GMT, and ended its five-day research mission.
The Progress M-60 had arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) in May to  deliver 2.5 tons of equipment and supplies.

The Russian Progress M-60 (Progress 25P) cargo spacecraft is to undock from the International Space Station (ISS) at   00:37  GMT, 19th September, 2007.

Russian mission control officials have said that the   cargo ship will remain in orbit for  five more days studying the behaviour of plasma particles in the exhaust from the ship's engines at various stages of flight, before it is  deorbited   into the Pacific Ocean near Christmas Island.

"The Progress M-60 spacecraft will be undocked from the ISS at 4:37 a.m. Moscow time on September 19, but will not leave orbit immediately, and will become a temporary research lab" - Mission control spokesperson.

The cargo ship spacecraft arrived at the ISS in May.

The Russian Progress spacecraft launched from the Kazakhstan on Friday docked at the space station about 1:10 a.m. Its automated rendezvous and docking system functioned perfectly. It carried air, water, fuel, food and other supplies for the three-person station crew.

The residents of the international space station will be getting fresh supplies, equipment, and movies this week if a Russian cargo ship arrives Tuesday (May 15) as planned. The Progress cargo ship was launched early Saturday atop a Soyuz rocket from Baikonur. The Progress is hauling about 2.5 tons of supplies and equipment, including gifts for the crew, books and snails to be used in experiments.

An unmanned Russian cargo ship carrying 2.5 tons of supplies, equipment and gifts blasted off Saturday en route to the international space station, officials said.
The Progress M-60 mounted atop a Soyuz-U booster rocket lifted off as scheduled at 7:25 a.m. from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and entered the designated preliminary orbit, Russia's Federal Space Agency said in a statement.

May 10, 2007. Baikonur launch site, branch office of S.P.Korolev RSC Energia
At 5:00 Moscow time Soyuz launch vehicle was rolled out from the integration building to the launch pad. Soyuz-U launch vehicle with Progress M-60 transport vehicle is installed on the launch pad. L-2 days activities have been started.

A Russian  Progress M-60 Soyuz U Launch (International Space Station 25P) will launch the 25th Progress cargo delivery ship to the International Space Station, at  03:25 GMT May 12, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.
Docking is planned for 05:12 GMT on May 15.
