The launch of the Space shuttle Discovery is still scheduled for launch at 15: 38 GMT (11:38 a.m. EDT) today.

The Shuttle Discovery (STS-120) is scheduled to launch from pad LC-39A, at the Kennedy Space Centre, Florida at 15:38 GMT (11:38 a.m. EDT), 23rd October, 2007.
STS-120 is to deliver the Node 2 connecting module to the International Space Station that will serve as docking station for future laboratory modules.

Space shuttle Discovery will launch next week, but the vote was not unanimous.
NASA managers spent hours Tuesday debating whether or not to liftoff during their standard flight review.
Some safety workers recommended rolling Discovery back to the vehicle assembly building to replace three weakened heat protection panels.
NASA's chief engineer said that was enough to vote against a launch.
But overall, mission managers said the risk was not high enough to warrant a delay.

This mission will deliver the Node 2 connecting module to the International Space Station.
The flight will be the 23rd mission to the station.

NASA is studying a possible problem with the thermal shielding on Discovery's wings that could force a delay in this month's launch.
