NGC 2831 (also Arp 315, MCG 6-21-13, UGC 4942 and PGC 26376) is a magnitude +13.4 elliptical galaxy located 238 million light-years away in the constellation Lynx.
The galaxy along with NGC 2830 and NGC 2832 are listed as Arp 315 in the Atlas of peculiar galaxies by Halton Arp. The galaxy triplet Arp 315 is part of the larger Abell 779 galaxy cluster which contains 83 galaxies.

The galaxy was discovered by Anglo-Irish astronomer George Johnstone Stoney using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr castle on the 13th March 1850.
