Hot Bird 3 has suffered a major power failure.
The geosynchronous satellite (13° East) provided twenty active channels, offering Direct-To-Home reception for Europe.

The satellite was launched in 1997, and was to have stayed in service until 2012.
HotBird 8 replaced HotBird 3 at 13° East, and the satellite was to have been relocated.
