India is now gearing up to produce as many as 1,000 more T-90S main-battle tanks, in addition to the 310 such tanks already imported from Russia, to add "more teeth" to its armoured might.
The Army gameplan is to have 21 regiments of T-90S 'Bhishma' tanks and 40 regiments of upgraded T-72 M1 'Ajeya' tanks by 2020 since the "speed and shock effect" of mechanised forces will continue to play a decisive role in future wars
