Occultation of Spica by Venus occured on the 10th November, 1783.

The last planetary occultation of Spica occurred when Venus passed in front of the star (as seen from Earth) on November 10, 1783.

The next occultation is on the 2nd September, 2197

As twilight fades this evening, look low in the southwest for a bright star standing just a whisker away from the crescent Moon. The star is Spica, the luminary of the constellation Virgo.

Occultation of Spica by the Moon on August 28, 2006.

For the Southern half of New Zealand, the bright star Spica will be occulted by the Moon on the evening of August 28. The Northern limit of the occultation is to the South of Nelson and Masterton and to the North of Wellington.
