A magnitude 16 (and rising) type II supernova, 2006dk, was discovered on the 25th June, 2006, by M. Migliardi from CROSS, in the spiral galaxy NGC 4161, in the constellation Ursa Major
The supernova is located 6" east and 11" north of the nucleus of the galaxy.
