At 20.40 GMT on Saturday night a large slow moving giant meteorite exploded into hundreds of fragments over Erfoud, Morocco.
Position: Latitude 31.4361 Longitude -4.2328
The bolide was witnessed by many hundreds of tourists as well as many Erfoudians. The object was seen to split into hundreds of flaming fragments that seemed to fall towards the earth.
Residents are searching for fragments that may have survived, but as yet nothing has been recovered.
