There's something special about Joshuatree.
The asteroid, discovered by Jean Mueller in 1992 and named after Joshua Tree National Park, turns out to have a satellite - its own "moonlet." More than that, it is one of a newly identified class of asteroid systems. And the discovery of its special status took place not far from Joshua Tree, at an observatory in Landers.

Asteroid 19204 Joshuatree was discovered on the 2nd June 1992 by J. E. Mueller at Palomar.

Joshua Tree National Park was founded in 1936 as Joshua Tree National Monument largely through the efforts of Minerva Hoyt (1866-1945). It became a national park in 1994. It is known for the Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia) as well as for its distinctive rock formations and dark skies.
