NGC 2775 (also Caldwell 48, IRAS 09076+0714, MCG 1-24-5, UGC 4820 and PGC 25861) is a magnitude +11.4 face-on spiral galaxy located 55.5 million light-years away in the constellation Cancer.
The galaxy is part of the Virgo Supercluster.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector from an old hunting lodge in Datchet, Berkshire, on the 19th December 1783.

NGC 2775 

Right ascension 9h 10m 20.1s, Declination +07° 02' 16.6"

SN1993z is the only supernova known to have occurred in NGC 2775 and was a Type Ia on Sept. 23rd that year at a magnitude of 13.9.
