Comet C/1080 P1 in the constellation Lyra made its closest approach to the Earth (0.0641 AU, 24.9 Lunar Distance) on the 5th August 1080.

The great comet of 1080, whose tail extended more than sixty degrees, is supposed to preform its revolution in five hundred and seventy-five years.
