NGC 5246 (also IRAS 13349+0421, MCG 1-35-17, UGC 8612 and PGC 48128) is a magnitude +13.9 face-on barred spiral galaxy located 319 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Albert Marth using a 121.92 cm (48 inch) speculum reflector at William Lassell's Tigné Point observatory in Sliema, Malta, on the 30th April 1864.
