Massive asteroid set to fly by Earth

An asteroid that is 1,000-metres wide is set to skim past Earth this week, travelling at more than 23,000 mph.
The rock, named 2014-YB35, will pass by relatively close to Earth. But that is 2.8 million miles away, 11.7 times further away than the moon.

The 440 - 990 metre wide asteroid 2014 YB35 will make a close pass (11.6 LD, 0.0299 AU) travelling at 10.16 km/second, to the Earth-Moon system on the 27th March 2015 @ 06:20 UT ±00:01.

The Lunar Distance (LD), the distance between Earth and the Moon, equals 384,401 km, (or 0.00256 AU).
