Neil Zeller was taking photos at 11 p.m. on Monday near Jumping Pound Road when he spotted what he believed at first to be a meteor. However, with the length of time the fireball took to cross the sky, he said it was a lot more likely that it was a piece of space junk. Read more
Bright light in sky wows Utah, likely a rocket NASA ambassador says
Just before 11 p.m. Monday, a bright streak appeared in the skies above Utah and continued on over Idaho and into Montana and perhaps beyond, causing a stir of excitement for those who saw it. Patrick Wiggins, NASA ambassador to Utah, didn't see the event but says he is almost completely sure it was a rocket from China that launched a satellite in December and has been orbiting the earth since.
