NGC 727 (also NGC 729, ESO 354-10, MCG -6-5-12 and PGC 7027) is a magnitude +13.9 barred spiral galaxy located 462 million light-years away in the constellation Fornax.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town on the 1st September 1834. The galaxy was rediscovered by John Herschel in November 1837 and relisted as NGC 729.
