NGC 316 is a magnitude +14.5 star located near to the galaxy NGC 315 in the constellation of Pisces.
The star was discovered by Irish astronomer Bindon Blood Stoney, assistant to Irish astronomer Lawrence Parsons, 4th Lord Rosse using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 29th November 1850.
