NGC 789 (also IRAS 01595+3149, MCG 5-5-47, UGC 1520 and PGC 7760) is a magnitude +13.5 spiral galaxy located 242 million light-years away in the constellation Triangulum.
The galaxy was discovered by German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 Merz-Refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 24th August 1865.
The galaxy was rediscovered by Edouard Stephan in December 1871.
