NGC 4597

NGC 4597 (also IRAS 12376-0531, MCG -1-32-34 and PGC 42429) is a magnitude +12.0 spiral galaxy located 48 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.

The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 22nd February 1787.

Right Ascension 12h 40m 12.3s, Declination Dec Dec -05° 48' 02"
