NGC 2862 (also IRAS 09219+2659, MCG 5-22-45, UGC 5010 or PGC 26690) is a magnitude +12.9 barred spiral galaxy located 188 million light-years away in the constellation Leo.
The galaxy was discovered by Danish-German astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/17.5 Merz-Refractor at the Copenhagen Observatory on the 21st February 1863.
