A fresh and unusual stone weighing only 72 grams was acquired by the Macovich Collection in 2010 following its discovery in Algeria. NWA 6342 was determined to be an extremely unusual specimen of Mars-and the first example to evidence affinities to the mantle of the Martian planet. NWA 6342 has poikilitic (crystals in an igneous rock which contain grains of other minerals) as well as non-poikilitic features.
