On 28 September 2012 an Ariane 5 launcher lifted off from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana on its mission to place two telecommunications satellites, Astra-2F and GSAT-10, into their planned geostationary transfer orbits. Liftoff of flight VA209, the 65th Ariane 5 mission, came at 21:18 GMT (23:18 CEST; 18:18 French Guiana). The satellites were accurately injected into their transfer orbits about 27 minutes and 30 minutes after liftoff, respectively.
India's latest communication satellite GSAT-10 and the Astra 2F satellite are slated to be launched from Kourou in French Guiana on September 22. The satellites will be launched by European space consortium Arianespace's Ariane-5 rocket. Read more
