A possible magnitude 14.5 supernova was discovered on the 11th August, 2012, in the galaxy NGC 1084 in the constellation Eridanus by B. Monard.
The supernova is located 0" east and 16" north  from the center of the galaxy.

As yet the type is unknown.

Position (2000):     RA 02 45 59.88 |  Dec -07° 34' 27.0"
z = 0.004693

The galaxy also hosted supernovae 1963P1996an1998dl and 2009H
