Russian booster rocket fails to put 2 communications satellite in orbit
Russia's space pride suffered another blow Tuesday when a booster rocket failed to place two communications satellites into target orbits, a mishap that came a day after NASA successfully landed a robotic vehicle on Mars. Russia's Roscosmos space agency said the Proton-M rocket was launched just before midnight Monday from the Russian-leased Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Russian Booster Fails to Put Satellites in Transit Orbit
Briz-M booster has failed to bring two satellites into a calculated transition orbit after the launch late on Monday, the Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos said. Launch of Proton-M Carrying Telkom 3 and Express MD2
A Proton-M rocket lifted off from Baikonur in Kazakhstan today, August 6th 2012, at 19:31 UTC carrying the Telkom 3 and Express MD2 communication satellites. Telkom 3 will provide 32 C-band and 10 Ku-band transponders for Indonesia communications. Express MD2 will provide 8 C-band and 3 L-band transponders for communications across Russia.
A Proton M-Briz rocket is scheduled to launch the Express MD2 and Telkom 3 communication satellites from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, at 19:31 UT, 6th August, 2012.
