X1.4 class solar flare - Eruption on sunspot 1520 & CME facing the Earth (July 12, 2012)

A class X1.4 solar flare occurred July 12, 2012 around 16:52 UT (time of maximum). It occurred on the sunspot 1520, which is facing the Earth right now. A CME (coronal mass ejection) occurred. It is essentially directed southward, however, a significant portion should affect our Earth's magnetic shield. A magnetic storm is expected during the day Saturday, July 14, 2012. The northern lights will be present, perhaps even at somewhat lower latitudes than usual.
