Supernova in Virgo

A magnitude 16.4 Type Ia supernova (at near maximum) was discovered in the spiral galaxy PGC 052836, in the constellation Virgo, on the 23rd May, 2012, by the LaSilla/QUEST Survey 
The supernova is located 11" west and 0" north from the center of the galaxy.

Position (2000): RA 14 47 48.48 | Dec +01° 03' 06.10''   
 z=0.028658
