Minor planet named after well-known Chinese scientist

Yan Jici (1901-1996) was a renowned physical scientist and educator, and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was one of the Chinese pioneers of physics research, one of the founders of optical instrument development and was President of the University of Science and Technology of China from 1980 to 1984.
