Comet P/2011 FR143 (LEMMON) was first discovered by the Mount Lemmon Observatory, located in Arizona, in 2011.  The object was classified as belonging to the centaurs group.
The object has an absolute magnitude of 13.7 which corresponds to a diameter of 6-8 km, and an orbital period of 17.85 years.
In June-July 1968 the comet had a close encounter with the planet Saturn.
