On Saturday the 24th March there was a special open night held at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) celebrating the recent renovation of the historic McClean telescope located in the observatory grounds. Dr Ian Glass was the guest speaker and talked about the history of the McClean telescope. In addition to the talk, the public were give an tour of the museum on site and also had the opportunity to look at various astronomical objects including Orions nebula and Saturn through both amateur telescopes and the grand restored McClean.
