EU's Sentinel colour Earth camera now operational

The EU's latest Earth observer, Sentinel-2a, has gone operational.
Users are now able to download its images of the planet, although they will need to register first.
The Sentinel, which has been undergoing in-orbit testing since its launch back in June, views the land surface in optical and infrared light.

Latest EU Sentinel satellite to track global food crops

The lead spacecraft in Europe's new multi-billion-euro Earth observation programme is set to go into orbit.
Known as Sentinel-2a, the satellite will take pictures of the planet's surface in visible and infrared light.

Sentinel-2A poised high

The Vega rocket's upper stage is now being fuelled. On Friday there will be a full rehearsal involving Arianespace, the Sentinel-2 team in Kourou and ESA's European Space Operations Centre in Germany in preparation for liftoff, set for 23 June at 01:52 GMT (03:52 CEST; 22:52 local time on 22 June).

Last stretch before being packed tight
