Achromatic refractor vs Newtonian reflector - Jupiter
Ed ~ The refactor views are more typical of a 3" or 4" telescope. Generally, a refractor is the telescope of choice for planetary viewing. An achromatic correcting filter will improve the visual refractor view, (baader fringe/contrast/ or semi-apo filter). For image capture a IR-cut filter to remove the blur is also needed (it is not clear if one is used in the comparison).
