China launches navigation satellite

China Friday successfully launched a satellite, the 10th one for its indigenous global navigation and positioning network known as Beidou, authorities said.
The satellite was launched at 5.07 a.m., the launch centre said.

China Launches 10th Satellite for Independent Navigation System

China successfully launched a satellite into space at 5:07 a.m. Beijing Time Friday, the 10th one of its indigenous global navigation and positioning network known as Beidou, or Compass system, the launch centre said.
The satellite, launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in the southwestern Sichuan Province, was boosted by a Long March-3A carrier rocket into a geosynchronous orbit.

A Long March 3A rocket with the Beidou 2-IGS IV (Compass) satellite is scheduled to launch from the Xichang launch site on the 2nd December, 2011.
