Professor Matt Visser will be exploring some of the mysteries of the universe next year. The Victoria Professor from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research was recently awarded one of four prestigious James Cook Research Fellowships providing funding of $110,000 a year for two years. He will research the 'borderlands' between gravity and quantum physics, helping to answer questions surrounding evaporating black holes, and why 60% of the universe has virtually nothing in it.
