Russia launches navigation satellite

Russia Monday launched a navigation satellite from its Plesetsk Space Centre, Space Forces spokesman Col Alexei Zolotukhin said.
The Soyuz-2.1B carrier rocket with the Glonass-M navigation satellite was launched at 12.15 am Monday.

Rocket with the "GLONASS-M" satellite was launched from Plesetsk

Russian Space forces successfully launched the "GLONASS-M" navigation satellite on Monday night from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, according to Colonel Alexei Zolotukhin, Defence Ministry spokesman.

The launch of the Soyuz-2.1B carrier rocket with the Glonass-M navigation satellite was postponed until Sunday because of the approaching cyclone, Russia's Space Forces spokesman Colonel Alexei Zolotukhin said on Saturday.

A Soyuz 2-1B-Fregat rocket with the Kosmos-Glonass M33 navigation satellite is scheduled to launch from the Plesetsk launch facility, at 20:19 GMT, 1st October, 2011.

 

Glonass satellite grounded for likely system error (August, 2011)


The launch of a Soyuz-2.1B rocket with a Glonass-M navigation satellite aboard, scheduled for the night of August 25-26 from the Plesetsk space centre, has been pushed back to sometime between September 1 and 10. News of the delayed liftoff broke a few hours before the scheduled launch.

The launch of the Soyuz-2.1B carrier rocket with the Glonass-M navigation satellite was postponed for an additional equipment check, Russia's Space Forces commander said on Thursday.
The launch from the Plesetsk Space Centre in northern Russia was scheduled for Thursday.

A Russian Soyuz 2-1b rocket is scheduled to launch a Glonass-K satellite from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome at 22:50 GMT, 25th August, 2011.

GLONASS-K is the latest satellite design intended as a part of the Russian GLONASS radio-based satellite navigation system. At 06:07 Moscow Time on 26 February 2011, the first GLONASS-K satellite was launched.
