Hello this supernova had a spectra done a couple of days back by D. Milisavljevic, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and was a type Ia supernova about a max light out put

Possible supernova in NGC 644

A possible magnitude 15.8 supernova was discovered on the 21st September, 2011, in the barred spiral galaxy NGC 644 in the constellation Phoenix.
The supernova is located 18" east and 2" south from the center of the galaxy.
As yet the type is unknown.

Position (2000):     RA 01 38 54.59  |  Dec -42° 35' 08.8"
z = 0.02071
