There's a lot in the stars for the Joseph Rogers Observatory these days: Its uber-high powered, computerised, made-for-NASA telescope is getting the final few calibrations before being unveiled to student star-searchers. Dozens of smaller telescopes are about to be doled out to area high schools and middle schools. Oh, and instructor Jerry Dobek is looking into the possibility of taking students to Australia for a total solar eclipse next year.

The Joseph H. Rogers Observatory is located at 1753 Birmley Road, a few miles south of NMC's main campus in Traverse City. (O on Campus Map)
It is positioned on a hill 257 m above sea level, at latitude 44°42.4, longitude -85°36.7.
