Garbage and junk news stories are generally hand filtered out by myself. Dubious or unverified articles are sometime published due to factors of time and of interest. But please note: While i try to provide links to those astronomy articles or videos, I do not necessarily endorse any claims or opinions expressed by those authors or website owners.
Ed ~ Update for a dubious video published and queried/brought to my attention
Just a note to say that all off-site links are active at time of posting. External Links are included for informational purposes only. Due to varying editorial policies, these links may not be permanent public repositories. The content of web pages, especially for news organisations, may change frequently, and sites may remove or change a link for archival purposes at any time without notice. Old, inactive, offline or broken links, although inconvenient for users, are left in place to indicate their general source.
Just a small note about site policy; while i attempt to create this news portal to have transparency, freely embeddable videos, and links back to source or external accreditation, etc, there will be occasions where private source information from single users or unconfirmed sources will be withheld, (only to maintain their, or my, privacy). Bloggers are requested to use such information with caution.
This is also one reason why i usually post news from linkable blogs and websites, and not untraceable comments from anonymous/named individuals. News stories will usually always have a 'Read more' or 'See more' link. Predictions and other news stories or articles without links are by me and do not require linkbacks or accreditations (ie free to copy and paste, but Bloggers are still requested to use such information with caution).
This site does not aim to have a captive audience or require referrals or accreditations.
Disclaimer: As you may see there are advertisements attached to the header of this site. The content of the adverts are outwith our control, and due to a result of our agreement with the web host for free web space. The web host endeavours to place adverts with an "Astronomy" theme to them; unfortunately, some of this advertising is not truly related to legitimate astronomy.
The reason why there is an off-topic section and non-specific astronomy posts is to accept that site users have varied interests, and to support the ethos that the internet should be a unifying tool (ie, it is not a case of astronomers v rest-of-the-world). This site, while concentrating on astronomy and related topics, does not exclude other areas of interest.
This sites primary mission to bring to the attention of its viewers astronomy related news reports, weblinks and upcoming events. As to the nature of reporting breaking stories, and obvious lack of control of external sources and viewpoints, users should make up their own minds as to the authenticity of the stories posted. However, having said that, measures are taken in order to ensure that the news links provided by this site are coherent, transparent, accurate and suitable for academics and astronomy enthusiasts. I also will try to add a personal note to clarify the posts.
This site now has a policy of putting its sources at the bottom of the story. The Permanence of the weblinks is outwith the control of this site. Sources or links for any old stories, missed links, or information can be obtained by contacting me.
