America's first astronaut, Alan Shepard, is honoured on a new Forever postage stamp being issued Wednesday at the Kennedy Space Centre.
The stamp is part of a two-stamp set recalling Shepard and the Messenger Mission, the first spacecraft to orbit Mercury.

Mercury-Redstone 3 was a U.S. Mercury program manned space mission launched on May 5, 1961 using a Redstone rocket, from Launch Complex 5 (LC-5) at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
