To mark the beginning of a new solar year, the Swinburne Punjabi Club is hosting Vaisakhi festival celebrations at the Hawthorn campus. The Swinburne Punjabi Club has been running for nearly four years and during that time has celebrated numerous cultural events, including Vaisakhi, Diwali, Holi, and the Indian Independence day. Vaisakhi is one of the most significant holidays in the Sikh calendar and has special significance for two of India's major religious groups. It signifies the beginning of the Hindu solar year and celebrates the establishment of Khalsa, the baptism of the Sikhs, in 1699. Read more
