A meteor big enough to have ruined a lot of people's Valentine's Day streaked over the East Coast earlier this week, creating a rare daytime fireball. Large numbers of people from Connecticut to Philadelphia reported seeing the meteor, which by some accounts was as bright as the sun. Most meteorites are the size of a grain of sand, but experts believe this one was up to 5 feet across.

Possible meteor spotted over Philadelphia

There were several reports of an object resembling a meteor spotted in the sky near Philadelphia's Navy Yard Monday, myFOXphilly.com reported.
The meteor-like object was observed midday, witnesses said. One reporter for Philadelphia's FOX 29, Chris O'Connell, saw the object as he was driving on I-95 near the Philadelphia airport. He described it as "majestic" and "beautiful."

A bright daylight fireball was reported over the northeastern USA near at 12:40 EST, 14th February, 2011.
