Were you one of the many people who spotted something meteoric flying through the sky on Wednesday evening?
Many people throughout the UK have reported seeing a meteorite-like streak of bright light passing through the sky on Wednesday evening (December 8).
Surprised stargazers all over England, Scotland and Wales reported seeing the display at about 5.40pm including two motorists in the Sleaford area.

The bright meteor was spotted by stargazers and astronomers across the UK as it headed from east to west, leaving a vivid green trail.

Witnesses have reported seeing a tremendous fireball roaring through the skies above Wigan last night.

One local onlooker, John Hill, said: "I dont know if any other people saw it, but a meteorite just shot across the sky very low and looked as though it was coming down at Windmill field or Haigh woods, Time was 17.35hrs very bright and was definitely coming down running from East to West and very low!"

The BBC was contacted by people in Scotland, the Midlands, Wales, and northern and south west England who saw the display at about 17:40 GMT.
