A tsunami warning has been issued for north-eastern Japan after an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck off the east coast of Honshu.
The tsunami is predicted to have a wave 1m high. Those in the warning zone should move to high ground, Japanese TV said.

Earth movements from Japan earthquake seen from space
 
Satellite images have been essential for helping relief efforts in Japan following the massive quake that struck on 11 March. Now scientists are using ESA's space radars to improve our understanding of tectonic events.
Scientists are calling on data from the advanced radar on ESA's Envisat satellite to map surface deformations caused by the magnitude-9 earthquake.

A strong magnitude 6.5 earthquake occurred at 22:23:56 (UTC) on Sunday, March 27, 2011, near the East coast of Honshu, 109 km East of Sendai, Honshu, at a depth of 5.9 km.

Location 38.405°N, 142.120°E


Ed ~ A small tsunami warning was issued, 50cm wave was expected.
